Active Role-Play
Role-Play is a vital part of everyday for children because it is so much more than being able to jump about and get exercise; though that in itself is very important. With active role-play children learn empathy and social skills, it fires their imagination, helps develop their dexterity and - as they create their shared world around them - stretches their abilities to communicate. For children to experience active role-play at its best they need good, well made and safe props like those in our range. All have been made to exacting standards by craftsmen and women in our own workshop in the Wylye Valley, Wiltshire. Many are safe to be played with by children as young as three, all are suitable for the over fives. They have been designed with a classic timeless appeal, having been inspired by real toys and theatrical props from Britain’s historic past and its wealth of fairytales.

Old School & Traditional Toys
All the toys and games in this range have one thing in common, they are all inspired by real childhood favourites from the historic past. At Tymeagain we believe today’s children need the chance to play with, not just toys from their grandparents childhood, but with toys and games played with by their ancestors when they too were children. An ideal way to help children relate to history is by helping them to see what it would have been like for them - as children - to have lived in the past. One of the most engaging ways to do this is playing with the toys and games that children in the past played with. Though inspired by the past these are modern toys with a chunky tactile design, made with all the safe-play requirements of modern toy standards.

Creating History Projects
These came about as our Print & Paint historical shield activity packs, introduced a few years ago due to requests from many of our regular customers. They wanted a shield made with the same care as our other toys, a shield that would get children interested in history. Not just another toy shield, its development and testing took well over a year. We have, however, made much more than had been asked for; this toy has as much to offer in role-play value as it does in creative play fun! Each project includes a hand cut and finished shield (made from 4mm grade ‘A’ Scandinavian Birch ply), a simple Beechwood sword with its distinct rope guard, an A3 size sheet of trace paper with an unbonded ink printed image for rubbing on to the shield face, a large and informative A3 size colouring poster - of the man who would have used that shield in battle - and of course each project comes with an info sheet to explain how it’s all able to be done.

Historic 2/3 Size Swords
This range has grown over the last few years as more and more museum and historic site custodians desired toy swords with more to offer than role-play fun; they wanted toys that were representative of real historic swords. All the toys in this range are 2/3rds the size of actual historic artifact swords, but first and foremost they remain great fun toys to delight and inspire children. Holding a toy like one of these swords helps a child to gain an interest in the person who would have owned it, and from that often comes the desire to learn history. All have been made to exacting standards by craftsmen and women in our own workshop in the Wylye Valley, Wiltshire. All are suitable as toys for children over fives years old. Our design of toy swords (for which we have the international design rights) has been independently safety tested in the UK.

Full Size Oak-Blades
This is a new range and already very popular as the first sword in this new range (the ‘Knight’s Hand-an-arf’ sword) has shown since it was released on to the market in September 2008. These are not meant as toys, these are - as the name states - full sized historic replica swords with blades made from beautiful solid Oak. We knew when we were developing this range that it would be rather desirable for teenagers and young adults, but we had no idea just how popular, or that many adults want a nice wooden replica on the wall rather than a hefty one made from metal. These swords have our well loved and very unique rope guards (for which we have the international design rights), but they are bigger and stronger. They truly radiate quality of material, quality of manufacture and are absolutely beautiful, they are also big, very, very BIG!
